Don't Forget About Craigslist - You Can Find Cheap and FREE PVC!

Even though PVC is cheap, it's still nice to find some for free every now and then.  When you're bending PVC for business, you really don't want to cut corners on your craftsmanship.  In today's weird economy, however, it really does help to cut costs somewhere.  Sometimes, a little boost is all it takes to keep your business afloat.  Even if you're riding high on the greasy hog, it still doesn't hurt to find a little something for nothing.  Don't worry, your good friend craigslist.org just may be able to come to the rescue. We like to keep in touch with our clients after they get a bender and see how things are going with their projects.  We recently got an e-mail from a client who told us that he found 5,000 linear feet of free PVC pipe on craigslist.
A whole lot of PVC ends up on craigslist, though, and a good portion of it is absolutely free, all you have to do is go pick it up.  Some of these guys will even drop it off; they just want to get rid of it.  Let's not get into the issue of how if they're going to do that, they might as well just hold onto it for future projects.  Whether that's true or not, what's out there is a rotating supply of free PVC pipe.
It's not only craigslist and ReStore, though.  There's also Backpage, ebayclassifieds, and other, smaller sites that serve a similar purpose.  You may not find it every day, but if you're Jonesin' to bend some PVC and you don't have any laying around, all you have to do is keep looking.  Admittedly, we're sitting in a pretty lucky place.  We're literally surrounded by military bases, and there is constantly work going on on one or all of them.  That means that here in Colorado Springs, there is quite a bit of the stuff floating around.
Still, it really doesn't matter where you are.  There is work being done all over your area, and you don't even have to know where it is to look into it.  Just now, as I'm typing this, I opened up another tab and searched the free stuff section on our local craigslist for PVC.  There are two entries currently available:  One is for a whole bunch of PVC fittings, and one of them has about 5 three foot sections of 4" clear PVC pipe.  That's not too bad for a single day and a single glance.  If I went through and checked all of the internet classifieds for free PVC pipe, it's hard to say what all would have turned up.
You can check every day, and if you stay on it, you could probably keep a PVC bending habit  for free.  Sure, you still need the tool for it, but that's what you're here for anyway, now, isn't it?
